It’s hard to imagine that our Barefoot Coaching Program has reached its fifth anniversary. There have already been so many great memories made for children throughout the world, but I also know that there are so many to come.
When I was first approached by Manny and Samaritan’s Feet, I only barely knew what was in store for me. What a life changing moment for me and my family! Being able to bring millions of smiles to the faces of children around the world is a feeling that no win on the basketball court can equal.
I am humbled that thousands of coaches have said yes to coach barefoot to raise awareness for Samaritan’s Feet and the 300 million children around the world who are forced to go barefoot because they don’t own a pair of shoes. In five years, we have already been able to distribute more than 2 million pairs of shoes around the world, bring hope to 2 million children that might not have had hope.
I have had the privilege of delivering thousands of pairs of shoes in Peru, Nigeria, Costa Rica, South Africa, Indianapolis, Charlotte, and Atlanta. I never get tired of making a child smile by giving them a new pair of shoes and socks.
I hope you decide to join our efforts at Georgia State to impact 10,000 impoverished children with a NEW pair of shoes, socks, and the message of hope for the future. Our goal this year is to raise over $100,000. With your help, we will reach our goal!
In my short time at Georgia State, the warmth and efforts to help Samaritan’s Feet has been overwhelming. Thank you for your support because bringing hope to the lives of children is something for which we can all be proud.
Just one game coached in my bare feet will change the life of a child forever. I look forward to coaching a game barefoot this January once again.
Samaritan’s Feet was started eight years ago to put 10 million pairs of shoes on children’s feet in 10 years around the world. Samaritan’s Feet serves the impoverished in over 62 countries around the world and has placed new shoes on the feet of close to 4 million children.
As more coaches stand ‘barefoot’ together, the impact will continue to grow and more children will be given hope.
Will you provide a voice for the 300 million barefoot children around the world and the impoverished children right here in the US who are wearing shoes with holes in them or are two sizes too small?
