University of the Cumberlands (UC) Head Women’s Basketball Coach Melissa Irvin is proud to announce the 3rd Annual Barefoot for Bare Feet Event. She will join thousands of people in helping to change children’s lives by partnering with Samaritan’s Feet to host a Barefoot for Bare Feet event on February 27th when her team hosts Georgetown in the O. Wayne Rollins Center.
Barefoot for Bare Feet is a movement of groups and individuals committed to involving others in accomplishing the goals of Samaritan’s Feet. These volunteers organize and participate in barefoot activities, walks, and games throughout the U.S. to make people aware of the needs of others around the world. They are coaches, athletes, executives, teenagers, musicians, and parents, all making the bold statement that we can no longer sit idle and ignore the growing needs of others.
Last September, UC served 200 children from Southeastern Kentucky in an overwhelming display of humility and joy. Over 100 UC student athletes gave each and every child a much needed message of hope for their future by playing games, talking, laughing, and equipping them with a NEW pair of shoes and socks. It was truly amazing!! To witness our student athletes washing the feet of children in need, looking them directly in the face, and letting them know that they could be anything they wanted to be in life, will be something no one involved will ever forget.
With the support of the UC family and friends, and the community this has become an event that serves our own Southeastern KY families and children in need. This year we have raised the bar to serve over 250 Southeastern Kentucky children in need. Our goal is to raise $3800 to make this happen. Please give what you can to help. Thank you in advance for your donation.
